He was the Chief Deputy Warden at Old Folsom Prison. He allegedly allowed a riot so his buddies (inmates) could get revenge. (These are allegations according to newspapers and court reports). Bunnell was on tape receiving telephone calls from inmates in prison. Bunnell was testified against by Captain Doug Pieper! Captain Doug Pieper turned up dead! Rumor has it that numerous CCPOA members at Pleasant Valley, Kern Valley and Salinas had Pieper killed… Bunnell was fired! A sympathetic judge threw out the tapes because they were not obtained properly. C.D.C. was forced to rehire Bunnell and one step down. He is an associate Warden here at Mule Creek. I wrote about him in “American Dream” and in Palace to Prison”.. Inmate Onteivruz (K63599) came to ad-seg charged with threatening to assault staff with 89 points. He was found guilty of threatening to assault C.O. Stevenson!! Inspite of being convicted of this serious R.V.R. Onteivruz was given an override on 12/15/05 to Level 3, B yard. I was found not guilty of the same R.V.R and pleaded for an override to C Yard. I’m being transferred… I need help. C.D.C. is racist, unfair, corrupted and rotten at the very core. It is absolutely being run by mob like, renegade and rogue cops. If I don’t get some help soon, I’ll be dead. I feel like (that great man) Mayor Ray Nagin in New Orleans. He was at ground zero! Mayor Nagin walked into the Super Dome and had women throwing their babies at him. They had no food, no water and no electricity. I keep watching 16, 17 and 18 year old boys come to prison and get ruined forever. I see things that are incredible, unbelievable and unfathomable. I see C.D.C. creating homosexuals, deviants and perverts. I see corrupted wardens applauding the removal of tobacco from prisons but allowing guards to smuggle it in and extort inmates. Boys (17 and 18) are raped everyday in prison. Raped by guards, physicians, captains and cell partners. Rumor has it there is an A.W. at Pleasant Valley, one at Lancaster and one at Salinas and Kern who routinely have sex with inmates… These prisons have terrorist cells inside them. And what’s more and more dangerous to the public is lack of equity and trust! When inmates know there are staff facilitating terrorism in these prisons; who should/would we tell? Mike Bunnell? George Stratton? Roseanne Campbell? The warden at Pleasant Valley, Salinas? Who? These people will set us up in a heartbeat, some of them are without morals. They literally set people up to be killed and one of the main reasons they get away with it is because you allow it! Who gives a damn? Beginning mid-January, 2006 Sherman Manning will utilize this blog/bully pulpit to announce The Proxmire/Cunningham Pink Slip Award. This will be a monthly national infamous award named after former Wisconsin Senator William Proxmire, Former Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham, etc and draws on the practice of Code Pink Women For Peace which gives Pink Slips to pro-war politicians during protests… Senator Proxmire died December 15, 2005 at the age of 90. Senator Proxmire was a political maverick who became a leading scourge of big spending and government waste in congress. Proxmire’s monthly “Golden Fleece” Awards began in 1975 to point out frivolous expenditures of taxpayers’ money, became a Washington tradition. Proxmire returned more than $900,000 from his office allowances to the treasury. He accepted no campaign contributions. He was a Yale and Harvard graduate. His Golden Fleece Awards targeted boondoggles, cost overruns and costly studies of what seemed obvious. Among his greatest strikes; a $27,000 analysis of why prison inmates want to escape; a $97,000 study of the goings-on in a Peruvian brothel and an $84,000 study of why people fall in love… The Proxmire/Cunningham Pink Slip Award is definitely motivated by the Golden Fleece Awards. Randy “Duke” Cunningham of California recently admitted to accepting nearly $3 million in bribes to influence contracts and government spending. Our pink slips would be incomplete without Mr. “Duke's” name. We will primarily look for sworn peace officers and persons involved in law enforcement to award the pink slips. “Every person who is a police officer, prison guard, prosecutor or district attorney is a public employee. We salute, honor and appreciate the service, professionalism and dedication of most local, state and federal employees. But when a prison guard is corrupted, abusive, violent or negligent, it threatens public safety. Two thousand prison inmates get out of prison everyday in America. And if they leave abusive environments – they bring abusive behavior to the streets. Cops beating up citizens on traffic stops or D.A.’s wrongly accusing and prosecuting the innocent also threaten public safety. So we will give an award every month to somebody in law enforcement who has distinguished themselves as the worse of the worst. We will accept public, private and anonymous nominations. And we will also send each awardee a Proxmire/Cunningham Pink Slip in the mail,” says bestselling author Sherman D. Manning…
We will also be giving the King/Mandela Leadership Awards. These are obviously named for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Former Prisoner/Former President Nelson Mandela. The King/Mandela leadership awards will be given to “any person who distinguishes themselves as an innovator, motivator and a positive influence on others. If you go beyond the call of duty in any career and we hear about you, you can get a leadership award,” says Manning… Critics claim the leadership awards are simply promos for Manning’s books. They point out the only two nominees thus far are philanthropists who have purchased large amounts of Manning’s books and donated them to schools. “Ludicrous,” Manning says. “I unashamedly hope every recipient of the King/Mandela Leadership Award will buy at least 50 copies of “Blue-Eyed Blonde” and donate them to high schools, colleges, churches and public libraries. I had chill or goose bumps… I traveled to DC with Sherman to hear Rev. Jesse Jackson’s speech announcing he would not run for president in the 90s. Jesse was great but as Sherman’s Atlanta mentor (late Rev. Hosea Williams) once said, “Microphones explode in Manning’s hand. This is the first time I have ever made any kind of public appeal or plea such as this! It’s awkward! I need help. I need you to please, please, please (you the man or woman who stumbled upon this blog…) use every internet strategy you know to share this blog. I can’t do it all! There are not enough hours in the day for me to do it all. I appeal to you to help me. If you know how to use Tribe.net, Facebook.com, Craigslists.org, Nola.com, Myspace.com, Friendster.com, Yahoo!, Message Board, etc., etc., to mention this blog, share this posting, etc. I ask that you do it and please do it now! Go on to every chat room you know of, fan, web sites, etc., etc., post messages on podcasts, etc. to put the word out!... If you do absolutely nothing else; please Google every person I mention in this posting (or at least 3 or 4 of them) and text, fax or email them this posting. Will you at least do that much? Please? Will you, college student; you, high school senior; you, activist, entrepreneur or whoever you are??? Will you take 15 minutes to Google, find and email some of the above names? My friend spent another Christmas in prison. For a sex crime he didn’t do! The Honorable Mr. Mandela spent 27 years in prison. Mr. “Hurricane” spent 20 years for crimes he didn’t do. Greetings and Happy New Year. How are all of you in America, Switzerland, Japan, France and around the world? I’ve learned I may be illegally detained at this moment. Make no mistake, I am wrongly convicted. I should not be here but recently I’ve come to believe that even if it were not a wrongful conviction, the sentence is absolutely illegal. My sentence was/is double what it should have been. Pragmatically, it would behoove me to make contact with a sentencing expert. I’m speaking of Barry Tarlow, Blair Berk, Anthony Brooklier, Tom Mesereau, Susan Yu, William Genego, Ephraim Margolin, Dennis Riordin, Stuart Hanlon or Tony Serra…I believe in my heart that either of the above named California lawyers could get me out of prison. I pray for help. I pray for justice. I pray some of you will contact some of them and send them to this blog. The Government ain’t gonna voluntarily exonerate me. No politician is going to wake up and decide that Judge Robert Altman erred in sentencing. It’s not going to happen. But if Ralph White, David Perez (San Diego, CA Oilman), etc. decide to help me get Blair Berk, Barry Tarlow or Mr. Margolin; I will see my parents before they die. It’s really that cut and dried! If I don’t get outta jail soon, the people who mean the world to me will never see me again…Whoever you are, I ask you to please go back on this blog and peruse that powerful plea from Peter Andrist…Go on and read it. Now will you help us? Ten thousand dollars, five thousand dollars or even five hundred. Help…I would prefer you send a check to the lawyer(s). But since I don’t have either of them yet, I guess you’re gonna need to send it to (Sherman D. Manning, J98796, MCSP, C-13-203, P.O. Box 409020, Ione, CA, 95640) - Me or send it to Peter. The National Association for Public Safety has announced the recipients of The Proxmire/Cunningham Pink Slip Award for the month of January, 2006. Rest assured that each of the recipients did get a Pink Slip in the mail. Also, twenty national newspapers, columnists, journalists, professors as humanitarians world wide have been notified!
Drum Roll Please: Announcing Mr. Lance Corcoran! Mr. Chris Trott and Sheriff Mike Kile…We gave Lance Corcoran a Pink Slip because he represents everything which is vulgar, corrupt, profane and evil about government employees. Lance makes the tens of thousands of dedicated government workers nationwide look bad! Most government workers are good people! But Lance is the Vice President of the California Prison Thugs Union. AKA the CCPOA (CA. Correctional, Peace Officers Association!) Mr. Corcoran is a waste of government funds! People like Lance cost taxpayers millions and millions of dollars…When a prison guard i.e. rapes an inmate, smuggles drugs into prisons, foments violence, gets one inmate to stab another inmate, kills inmates and sets inmates up etc., etc. Victims sue! And when C.D.C. loses or settles out of court, this money is paid by John Q. Citizen! This is money we could use on tracking, treating and monitoring sex offenders, protecting our children and sending them to college, etc., etc. California citizens paid out $17.6 million dollars last year settling lawsuits for prison guard abuse! In 2004 citizens paid $9 million. From 2000 to date more than $60 million dollars have been paid out due to the criminal conduct of prison guards. This is paid by taxpayers. The same taxpayers who can’t ever know the disciplinary records of the officers working in our prisons. The same taxpayers who learn that the CCPOA guards the personnel files of rogue guards more closely than we shield the identity of rape victims. Lance Corcoran, allegedly and reportedly is a powerful spoke in the wheel of guard corruption in California. There is much more on Mr. Corcoran in the brand new book “Blue-Eyed Blonde” (www.cafepress.com or www.bou.com) as well as in “From the Palace to the Prison”, “American Dream/A Search for Justice” and in “Creating Monsters”.
The next recipient of the Proxmire/Cunningham Pink Slip Award is - Drum R-o-l-l… Mr. Chris Trott. Chris Trott is a Local Chapter President of the CCPOA working in a state prison in Calapatria, CA near Imperial. His union placed a Rat Trap on the prison bulletin board in an intimidating retort to 3 prison guards having been put on paid admin. leave pending an investigation into their use of excessive force. The symbology, according to a CCPOA accompanying memo, was to “catch” the captain and warden and to challenge the supervisors. Trott claims the Rat Trap has a union “tactic” to complain about management problems at Calapatria…Todd Slosek, a CDC spokesman said this intimidation of the “ratting” captain was precisely the type of “code of silence” misconduct that CDC wants to stop, calling it “unacceptable and completely unprofessional.” A sergeant, a guard and a medic/guard were seen by Captain Serchel Leapheart subduing inmate Adron Cowains. Captain Leapheart wrote the three up for abuse. This CCPOA also ridicules corrections secretary Roderick Hickman – whom they nicknamed “spud” and called Rod a disgrace to their profession for attacking the code of silence. Yet, from the other side of their corrupted mouths, union leaders still maintain “no code of silence exists”. People like Trott are a disgrace to honest, law abiding citizens and dishonor the badges they wear. This is why they steal prisoner’s mail to the media and fight to keep prisoner abuse private. This is why no cameras are allowed in prisons. Out of sight, out of mind. But – I repeat – taxpayers pay for the actions of these rampart division like rogue guards…
Drum Roll please… Final - all new The Proxmire/Cunningham Pink Slip Award goes to (my homeboy) Sheriff Mike Kile. Mike Kile is Sheriff of Screvens County, right next to Jenkins County in Georgia. A three month investigation by the Augusta Chronicle in 2004 found 32 former Screven County prisoners and at least 2 deputies who said Kile was corrupted. Kile ordered jailed inmates to work on his campaign signs and to perform tasks at his personal home. Kile had his own version of the PIC (Prison Industrial Complex) which was his J.I.C. or Jail Industrial Complex. June 2004 while working on Sheriff Kile’s illegal work detail, prisoner Harold Cannon escaped. Cannon went to the home of Richard Weaver and hacked him nearly to death with a machete…Almost killed him because a greedy, corrupted and renegade Georgia Sheriff thinks jail inmates are his own personal property. To Corcoran in Sacramento, Trott in Imperial and Kile in Screven, GA, you’ve been Pink Slipped! Now the world knows about you and your wasting of taxpayer funds. You are a threat to public safety! You’re fleecing America!!

1.(Attorney Daryl Laap) 2. (Attorney George Olson) 3. (Attorney Marc Goldstein) and 4. (Attorney John Bennet) are all lawyers at the commercial law firm of Palmer & Dodge in Massachusetts. They volunteered to represent inmate Daniel Laplante pro bono in his lawsuit. Daniel’s constitutional right of access to the courts was violated. Officials at the state prison in Cedar Junction denied him physical access to the Unit Law Library. Thousands of inmates have their rights trampled upon by prison officials because officials are cognizant of the fact that most inmate lawsuits are dismissed out of hand. And it is extremely difficult to find a lawyer willing to step up…Palmer & Dodge was asked by the U.S. District Court to help this man. And they did so victoriously, pro bono! Daryl Lapp has been a partner since 1995, George Olson is a senior litigation associate, Marc Goldstein is an associate and John Bennet is a junior litigation associate in Palmer & Dodge! I salute, applaud and congratulate them. Thank you!
Number 5…We award Rob Briley! Attorney Briley is a great man. Inmate Clark McMillan claimed he was innocent, falsely accused and wrongly convicted… After maintaining his innocence for 22 years, Clark was released after DNA evidence cleared him of raping a 16 year old in 1980. Clark was convicted after the victim identified him in a police line up… The best way to destroy a man’s credibility, ruin his name and reputation etc. is to accuse him of rape! Rape is a terrible and a horrible crime! And it is also terrible and horrible to be falsely accused and convicted of rape when you did not do it! Lord knows it is humiliating! Clark lost 22 years of his life. His criminal records are expunged and his full citizenship rights are restored. Briley represented Clark pro bono and will receive no money for his time or costs. God Bless Attorney Rob Briley of Nashville, Tennesse!
6. Attorney Larissa Hollingsworth…A Michigan federal jury returned verdicts of $75,000 in compensatory damages and $125,000 in punitive damages against a Michigan state prison guard who paid one prisoner six cigarettes to viciously pummel another. Inmate Barton Allen was beat down while sitting on a toilet at Riverside Corrections Facility in Ionia in October 2001. Fellow prisoner Deshawn Fleming admitted smashing Allen’s head – Paid for by Sergeant Dennis Baldwin. In a quintessential display of “correctional justice”, Fleming, who confessed to the assault and that he was hired by Baldwin, was administratively infracted and found guilty, while Baldwin, on the same evidence was cleared by prison officials. Prison staff then malevolently sidelined Allen’s mail from the court, to prevent him from suing prison officials. Trust me; they steal mail from prisoners all the time! When the case moved to trial phase the court appointed Larissa Hollingsworth of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a newly admitted lawyer who had never tried a case. When Larissa kicked the states butt and won, she and Allen were moved to tears by the verdict. This fledgling attorney just sat there and “tried to look like I was used to winning.” Baldwin set a new record for the cost of six cigarettes in state prison. Somebody hug and kiss Larissa! I salute and applaud her.
7. Sandy D’Alemberte! We award Mrs. D’Alemberte, a former president of Florida State University for handling the wrongful conviction of Wilton Dedge. Mr. Wilton Dedge (author’s note: Seems like Brother Joseph in Genesis and Sherman in CA were/are not the only fellas falsely accused and wrongly convicted of sex crimes. It happens everyday!) was convicted of rape in 1982 and sentenced to 30 years in the penitentiary. After the victim described her attacker to police as 6’ and 160 lbs, she picked the 5’5” and 125 lb Dedge out of a photo array. The jury disbelieved six alibi witnesses! Dedge had his wrongful conviction reversed in 1983 and was wrongly convicted again in 1984 and given a life sentence in Florida State Prison. DNA conclusively exonerated him. Sandy D’Alemberte handled his suit pro bono acting as special counsel to the Miami office of Hunton & Williams, a large law firm with offices around the world. Hunton & Williams also provided their serves to Wilton pro bono… to the tune of a $2 million dollar award! Somebody shake hands with all the partners in Hunton & Williams and hug that brilliant woman Sandy D’Alemberte. I salute them!!
8. Big Kanye West! Y’all gotta excuse the semi-French but this brother has balls! He called out the U. S. President! Whether one agrees or disagrees with Kanye’s “We all know that George Bush doesn’t care about Black people.” In this age of sold out and gutless (heartless, etc.) superstars (i.e. Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant) it’s refreshing to see a young, brilliant musician and performer willing to say what he means; and mean what he says! I salute, applaud and high five Mr. Kanye West!! Go Kanye!
9. Jonny Silberman is awarded our King/Mandela achievement award because he is a great young man with a promising future. This is a Caucasian tenth grader who is a native of South Africa. He played soccer in South Africa and now brings his zeal and talent to the Weber School in Dunwoody, GA near Atlanta. Jonny is challenged with diverse ways of thinking to contribute thoughts and ideas, to develop his intellect, values and a responsibility for the world around him. Jonny studies history, humanities, English, Bible, Hebrew and Fine Arts. The Weber School is a Jewish School named for Doris and Alex Weber. Jonny qualifies for a nomination for the $500.00 Manning Stipend. We will follow the activities and success of Jonny Silberman. I salute, congratulate, applaud and award Jonny Silberman with a King/Mandela Achievement Award.
It should be noted that critics (i.e. CCPOA, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity) of these new awards claimed I was only giving them for book sales. Reportedly, Rush stated “This prison convict forces you to buy 50 copies of his “Blue-Eyed Blonde” book and donate em to Oprah’s Angel Network and then he’ll give you the King/Mandela Award.” Well, I unashamedly hope, pray and even suggest that awardees who are adult and can afford it will go to www.cafepress.com/manning and order 50 copies or more of “Blue-Eyed Blonde and donate them to Oprah, a church, school, YMCA or public library! That’s a great thing because books change lives! But let there be no mistake: No awardees has been asked by anyone to buy “Blue-Eyed Blonde”. And buying my books is not a prerequisite for getting an award. Furthermore, kids like Jonny Silberman who is only 15 cannot be expected to buy 50 books!!

Under no circumstances shall I reveal my identity in this missive. America ought to be ashamed! How dare you read the posting here by Peter Andrist and not send a check to Sherman Manning? In America, I don’t comprehend the greed, selfishness and apathy. I’m sending $100.00 because it’s more than I can afford. But if I were Martha Stewart, Evander Holyfield, Earl Graves, Robert Johnson, some of these rich athletes etc., I’d pay for the man’s damned appeal. “What if he is guilty? What if it’s a con?” Forgive me but if I’m Oprah rich with a billion bucks, Kobe Bryant or Martha Stewart rich I’d pay a private eye five or ten thousand dollars just to look at Sherman’s case to tell me if he is wrongly convicted! Pay a polygraph expert to tell me plainly is this man innocent or is he guilty! It could be determined for less than 10 grand if Sherman is innocent! If I were Oprah (and I know she helps a lot of people – she’s just my example here), Hugh Heffner, Warren Buffett, Ted Turner, etc. I would be willing to pay 10 grand to find out if Sherman is a bull shitter and criminal or if he really is innocent! If the P.I. said he’s guilty, I’d expose him! If a P.I. said “We have a not guilty man sitting in prison,” then I’d write a $100 thousand check and tell Tom Mesereau or Gerry Spence, “I want you to get Sherman Manning out of prison.” I couldn’t let him stay in prison. I guess that’s why I’ll never be rich… but if each of us little people send the guy fifty, a hundred or whatever we can; eventually justice shall roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. I think I’ll email my posting to Oprah. Think she’ll read it?

I have a lot of stuff for forty-five and older on my blogs, but not this one. Leave!
Now that it’s you (seventeen – forty-five year olds especially you youngsters) and me; let’s get down. I gots some coins for y’all, some gossip, some questions and a few suggestions! All y’all help pray 4 Greg Hogan (accomplished cellist, president of his sophomore class at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA) and his dad. I hope Kathleen Haselton (freshman at Lehigh and a very smart girl) will see this posting and I.M. it to Greg. Michael Greer is a thirty-four-year old law office receptionist and chairs the Seattle office of Crystal Meth Anonymous. Crystal meth is glamorized to us and pushed on our school and college campuses every day. Lots of cool people are trying crystal meth! Lots of cool people are doing crystal meth. But crystal meth ain’t cool. Dude, don’t take my suggestion. Just look at someone who is zoned out on crystal meth. Look at how tore back and fried out they are and then decide what u wanna do!
Props go out to David Barnitz (Sacto) and Dr. Garrick Hong! There is a tiny town in Arkansas called Pleasant Plains… I’m speaking of the Midland school district. Midland is seventy miles north of Little Rock and home to two schools… Because Midland would end the year with a $400,000 shortfall, Comm. T. Kenneth James planned to annex Midland to another district. Net result: Midland High School was gonna close! A Methodist Pastor (Roger Hook) called a meeting and said, “Why don’t we the people SOS (Save Our School)?” What happened thereafter is straight out of a Frank Capra movie: In the last month, people raffled off guns, quilts, trucks, cars, horses, power tools, artwork, furniture, cinnamon buns and baseball cards…
But I wanna tell y’all about Lea Ramsey’s son… Jonathan Farrar, a young N.Y. Yankees fan had saved $1,000 so he could attend a ballgame in the Bronx. Jonathan gave up the money to help save his school. Yankees owner, George Steinbrenner heard about the boy’s charity and invited him to New York for a game and a tour of Yankee Stadium. “It takes quite a man to give up his personal dream for a higher purpose,” Steinbrenner wrote to Jonathan. Ipso facto, they saved the school! Y’all √ and C if Jonathan is a Myspacer… If he is, go to his site and tell him I said much love and respect. Also tell him I have a $100.00 check with his name on it to spend any way he wants! Do tell!
Shouts to Timothy Goebel, Johnny Weir, Maxim Marinin and Eugeni Plushenko (Hello Russia!)… Sistas call him Sweet Cheeks, the nicest cheeks on ice and a lot of other stuff. I don’t know about sweetness or niceness, but I do know the fastest cheeks on ice belong to Joey Cheek! And Like Jonathan, giving to others is Cheek’s gold standard. Joey is the speed skater/geek/bookworm/nerd who just won gold in long-track speed skating 500 meters. Joey, twenty-six, announced he will donate the $25,000, which comes with the medal to a program to help the thousands of Sudanese children who have been turned into refugees by warlords. Joey is following in the footsteps of his idol, Johann Olav Koss. Press Pause… Kobe Bryant? He’s one of my favorite basketball players. Kobe is an absolutely gifted player! I love watching Kobe shoot hoops. I could watch him play all day long. And Kobe seems to me to be a rootless, self-obsessed super athlete without the slightest pretense of any real connection to the community! After watching Kobe claim to be falsely accused of a sex crime and knowing that he knows what happens to thousands of falsely accused poor defendants, etc., etc., and to get off (or to be exonerated) by brilliant lawyers and not lift a finger to help others in his predicament is wrong. Kobe should have written a check to Barry Scheck and The Innocence Project in New York when he settled his case! Kobe should help Doug Tjapkes and Innocent in Muskegon, Michigan and Dr. Rubin “Hurricane” Carter at Innocence International. Kobe and many others are spoiled, overgrown, undereducated, brain dead studs…
Joey Cheek said, “I thought I might actually have a shot at doing something great at the Olympics and if I did, I wanted to make it meaningful.” Attempting to put it all in perspective, Joey says what he does is great fun and he loves it. It’s a great job; he’s seen the entire world and met amazing friends. Then he adds, “Honestly, it’s a pretty ridiculous thing. I mean, I skate around on ice in tights, right?” Joey was skating as much for those African children as himself. “I think on some level, it is empowering to think of somebody other than yourself,” Joey said. Kobe? Are you reading? Hello, Bro? Dude… Joey’s mom, Chris said, “He’s always been willing to take a stand and speak up for what’s right. If there was kid being picked on, he would be nice to that kid.” She also said, “He was extremely geeky; if he hadn’t had skating, he wouldn’t have been a well-rounded person.” She added that she gave Joey a copy of Jonathan Livingston Seagull when he was in the sixth grade in Greensboro, NC and he still reads it before races. “It’s all about the journey, working hard and taking the risk,” she said. For ya’ll ladies, I must report that Joey has a girlfriend… George Washington University business major, Tanya Harding… No - Nancy Kerrigan is his… I’m only kidding… Eleanor Collins is his lady. Addressing his quirks, she said the only thing Cheeks wears beneath his racing skin suit is Bjorn Borg underwear, sold only in Europe. Eleanor said she got a bit tired of seeing him rotating the same two pairs. “In the last year, Joey ripped a hole in both pairs, so I got him new ones when I was over in Sweden and gave them to him for Christmas.” They’ll be good for Joey’s cheeks! Next year, Joey plans to attend Yale, Stanford, North Carolina, Georgetown or Duke University. I vote for Yale or Georgetown… I wanna wish Joey Cheek all the best that life has to offer. Joey (if you’re reading this) you moved, motivated, touched, lifted and inspired me. Joey, they call me the 50 Cent or Pied Piper of uncut scribes… I pull no punches and I don’t spend a second trying to be politically correct. I’m in a deadly situation in which I may not live long. Also snowboarder Shaun White, gold winner in the half pipe contest! Shaun was born with a heart defect that required postnatal surgery. His mom (Cathy) and dad (Roger) were short on money but long on hope. They took good care of Shaun, Kari and Jesse. Shaun became a phenomenon on a skateboard. At fifteen, he was positioned to be the next Tony Hawk, but he pursued Olympic dreams at the 2002 Winter Games… Family took out a loan on their house, slept outside in their van to save on hotels… Shaun is a multimillionaire now at only nineteen, owns three homes and still lives in one in Carlsbad, California! Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has been dead for thirty-seven years now and his speeches still inspires, transform and motivate. That’s why I write! This I believe is true… It must become truth. Maybe someday, perhaps today, somebody will be moved by my writing. It’s important to me. I must be a blessing to somebody else. I cannot sit idly by and allow my own turmoil to cause me to see through a glass darkly. I must pray for guidance and inspiration. I pray for you. I pray and hope that when I reveal the wickedness inside these walls, it will resonate with somebody and cause a turnaround. I don’t want you here. James Emslander might cheat, rape, sodomize or murder you if you come here. And Mike Bunnell, Lt. Cherry and/or Mrs. Duclos may cover for him. Perhaps Lt. Cherry is sexually involved with James… I don’t know! Maybe the rumor about Emslander and Duclos being sex buddies is true? I don’t know… What I do know is when you are an activist, writer and a political prisoner… Mike Bunnell and others in C.D.C. will harass, ad-seg, transfer and harm you. They will invent reasons to transfer you. They will harass you and some of them will have you beat up, set up and killed.
The most vicious people I have ever encountered, the deadliest group of folks whom I know are in prisons. And they are here eight hours per day. I speak of the guards. I speak of administrators. This transfer was/is orchestrated by Cherry/Duclos and Bunnell to cover for (allegedly) the relationships between Duclos/Emslander/Cherry and… rape. Set up… etc.) at Pleasant Valley and Kern Valley. I know it’s tough for some of you all, but you gotta fight whatever forces are working to keep you down. If it’s ignorance, gangs, poverty or whatever, there is a way out! There is always a way out. It ain’t always easy! But it’s possible. No matter how corny it may sound, you gotta believe in you! Find a way to believe in yourself!
That crank, speed, crack and that other stuff! Listen- the best I can think to tell you is an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. I never got addicted to crack because I never tried crack. I scared myself into not trying it. I saw it fell too many powerful men and women. I saw the detriment and devastation to brains and bodies. So I never gave it a try. Some crap – like drugs, etc., you just gotta never try. And if you have already made that mistake and you’re in trouble, holler, “Help me! Help me!” You better get like that sista in St. Matthew 15:25 and holla help me. Call your brothers, mothers, pastors, teachers, counselors, hotlines or whoever you can to help you get off of drugs! If you stay on drugs, they will lead to the cemetery or the penitentiary. And quite frankly, I’m tired of seeing tears fall from the eyes of the weeping mommas because their kid is dead! Not just White kids! Black, White, medium dark and light kids are dying! Rachel Scott? Isaiah Shoals? Thirteen others at Columbine High School. Pick up the L.A. Times, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, etc. And turn to the obituary section and you’ll see that death is not a discriminator. Death visits all races, creeds, ages and communities. And every time I read about another youngster cut down by a bullet, I weep!
What the hell’s going on? Marvin Gaye talked about “What’s going on?” I’m sick of the foolishness and hypocrisy. Tupac died for what? Why did Biggie Smalls die? Who murdered these people and why? Somebody please explain the darn beefs to me. Grown men who are multi-talented; made it out of the hood and are rich!! Why do we, the rich, need to shoot one another? That’s why I’m writing to y’all youngsters… We need your help! I’m serious! We need you! It takes a village to raise a child? It also takes a village to destroy a child! And our village has destroyed thousands of our children. And we are lost in America! Y’all hear me today! Young people… My dear, dear young men and young women, please help us…
In Canada, Craig Kielburger had to step up and found Free the Children when he was only thirteen years of age. In America, I tell you, our adults are out of touch with reality, out of touch with teens and out of touch with God! We have leaders on the highest level of our government claiming they talk to God. Well perhaps, but I’m curious as to whether God talks back to them. And if He does, “My sheep know my voice and a stranger they will not follow,” Jesus said that. Do you believe God told us to go to Iraq? Do you believe God was misled into believing there were weapons of mass destruction? What about Enron, Halliburton, No Bid Contracts, Spying, etc? I want Brother George to read Genesis Chapter 22. He should read all of 22 but focus on verses 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14… Read it. Genesis 22. Now If Abraham didn’t know how to hear God, he would have killed his own son! I wonder how many brothers are we killing (with the death penalty, with our wars, with guns and knives on the streets, etc., etc.) that don’t need to be killed. Shut up and listen! Some times there is an updated memo from the C.E.O. of the universe and we the parents, we the leaders, we the politicians or we the preachers are operating on old orders. Generation Y, we need you! The Bible says a child shall lead the world. I’m calling on you. I’m not ashamed to yell “help me.” And I know that this ain’t politically correct, but I’m operating with the knowledge that half the Holy Writ was written by murderers, convicts and I know what Joseph was doing time in prison for… I am reversing the script. I call out to you to help us!
We (adults) are absolutely L-o-s-t! We are gullible, vulnerable and… we allow politicians to walk north and talk west, but still we elect them. Whatever the hell they do, we forget a day later and re-elect them. But we keep saying you are the problem. Y’all youngstas ain’t ordering any bombs in Iraq! You all are not calling the shots on the economy. The jails and prison are not run by you! We did this. And so on behalf of adults too arrogant, too egotistical and stubborn to ask you, I ask; help. Young America? Will y’all please heed this call? We need you. We need Evan Lysacek’s generation! I’m not saying the baby boomers totally failed. I’m not saying my (Gen X) generation failed totally! But if this message, this beacon call to arms, this plea I’m making is gonna be heard and seen, it will take the Google, the Friendster, the Facebook and Myspace generation to tell it. I ask you in high school, you in college, you at home, you at the cybercafé, etc. to I.M. T.M., post, email and podcast this posting in every school, in every city, in every church, in every fraternity and dorm. “Blue-Eyed Blonde” made a believer out of me! I say to you my daughter needs you. I’m not coming for me young folk, but I come for my children. I come for the 5, 10, 15, 20 year olds who need you. Pardon me but help me. Have mercy! And I also come like the brotha in Matthew 17 came… He did not come for himself but he came for his son… “So I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Did y’all hear that (St. Matthew 17:16)?
I’m telling you students at the Weber School, students at Darlington School (in Rome, GA), Riverside Military Academy, Spelman, Clark, Yale, Harvard, etc., etc. I brought “Creating Monsters” to your disciples (to your leaders, governors, senators, mayors, etc.) but they could not cure! I showed them Lionel Tate! I explained that when you lock up twelve year old kids and punish them via sensory deprivation, when you deprive them of girls, books, camaraderie, etc., it creates little monsters! I explained the gangs, guns, drugs and violence. I told your disciples (your president… I’m serious… I told Bush in “Creating Monsters”) that locking them up and throwing away the key would not work. I asked him to look at wrongful convictions, the death penalty, C.Y.A., juvenile delinquency, high school drop outs, teen suicide and homicide, the alienation of gay youth, studs, jocks and nerds. And Bush could not cure them. “Lord have mercy” through our young people. Anthony Fedorov? Luke Sears? Luke Wood? Christopher Austad? Kyle Love? In verse 17… The last five words… that’s what I need y’all to say… “Bring him here to me!” If, If… If a young Sergey Brin, Parker Anderson, Marcus Zuckerberg, Chris Dewolfe, Tom Anderson and Dan Cohen… If Marcus Pincus or Blake Ross would say, Sherman, “Bring him (them) to me (us)!”… Jail cells and juvenile would open and wrongly convicted folks would be freed… I wish our president, congress, etc., would have the humility to ask the question the disciples asked in verse 19. “Why?” We need to collectively ask you young people why have we not reached you? See, I wanna talk to you. I am not too big and bad to ask my little brothers and sisters. I want to talk with Cakalak Thunder, Chris Schwartz (University of Northern Iowa), Paul Pryse, Josh Brooks, Danielle Nodurft and ask why couldn’t we cast out the demons. I want to talk to eighteen year old mayor Michael Sessions in Michigan.
I’m not interested in Pat Robertson. He suggests assassinations!! I don’t want to hear anymore from Mr. Limbaugh and I’m not in a Rush to hear from Sean Hannity. But to you the youth: West Kovarik, Mike Ciompi, Derrick Flowers, Clay Aiken, Tim Goebels, Johnny Weir, Joey Cheek, Ryan Dwyer, Marc Cheb Sun (Editor of Respect), Alan Ritchson, Danny Pinnauro, Peter Grammatas, I say Help me! I call Garrett, Anthony Rapp, Fernando “Fernie” Rodriguez, Jr., Pat Anderson, Ryan Oelrich, Jerry Davis, Ross Bynum, Justin Daly, Steve Cozza, you, football teams, cheerleaders, pep squads and bands and I ask you… Why could we not cast it out? How did we fail you? How come we adults didn’t see Columbine coming? Why did not the prophets, preachers, counselors, parents and elders know these two young men in Littleton, Colorado were severely demon possessed? Why did we (society) fail to prevent it? How come we fail to notice when our kids are being fondled and molested by priests? Kevin Etheridge and Keith Kingon (Alcalanes High School) I wanna know why we (adults, teachers, parents) failed to recognize something going on in Scott Dyleski? Did Scott call out to us but we didn’t hear him? Did we, in Martinez and Lafayette, do what George did in D.C.? Just as Mr. President ignored all the signs showing there were no weapons of mass destruction!!! Did we ignore Scott’s pleas for help? Inquiring minds wanna know!
Listen - there is nobody here but you (youngsters) and me. Please, please tell me where we screwed up! Tell me anonymously if you must but tell me. I wanna know how we screwed it up so freaking bad. Y’all help me! Let me be Mattie (rest in peace) for one moment. And you be Oprah! Yes – you (teens and twenty somethings) be Oprah Winfrey! And you say, “I’ll give you anything for Christmas, Sherman. What do you want for Christmas?” I don’t want an Ipod, Blackberry, C.D. or DVD. I would like (for Christmas 2006) for you to tell me why we could not cast out the demons. And in your telling me, you’ll begin to heal the nation. And we do need a healing. I’m not talking about a cosmetic or artificial healing. Not the kind made for TV but I speak of the healings which move from breast to breast and heart to heart. I love you so much… I pray that you will focus like a laser beam on succeeding against all odds. I pray you will do what it takes to succeed! I pray you will succeed where we failed, love where we hated, give where we took, stand where we sat and surpass our paralysis with pragmatic analysis.
